An important leadership transition that occurred during our Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, August 27. After careful consideration and mutual agreement, the Board of Education voted to accept a separation agreement with our Superintendent, Mrs. Cindy Flowers.

Mrs. Flowers has served our district with dedication for 17 years, including the last five as Superintendent. We are deeply grateful for her contributions to our students, staff, and community. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing our district's mission and achieving numerous accomplishments. We sincerely thank Mrs. Flowers for her service and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.

To ensure a smooth transition and maintain strong leadership across GCSD, we have made the following appointments.

1. Mr. Michael Salatel, our current Middle-High School Principal, has been appointed Executive Principal. In this role, Mr. Salatel will oversee the district's day-to-day operations.

2. Dr. Jon Hunter, a former Geneseo Central School District Superintendent with extensive experience in education, will serve as Interim Superintendent beginning September 1, 2024.

Mr. Salatel will assume his new role immediately, ensuring a seamless transition as we begin the new school year.

We want to assure our community that this transition was a thoughtful, mutually agreed-upon decision. We understand that leadership changes can raise questions, and we are committed to keeping our community informed throughout this process. The Board of Education will strive to maintain the high standards of education and administration that our community expects and deserves. We are confident that Mr. Salatel and Dr. Hunter will provide strong leadership during this transition period.

As we approach the new school year, we want to emphasize that GCSD is well-prepared and excited to welcome students back on September 4th. Our dedicated staff is ready to provide an excellent educational experience, and we anticipate a successful and enriching year ahead.

Looking forward, the Board of Education will discuss options for selecting a permanent Superintendent. We are committed to a transparent hiring process and finding the best fit for our district. We will keep the community informed as we progress through this process.

We appreciate your continued support and partnership in education. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the Board of Education at sherrikaleta@geneseocsd.org or 585-243-3450 Ext. 2214. You can also find updates and information on our district website.
