As we enter the winter season, Geneseo Central School District is reminding families about snow days and emergency closing protocols.
When the district is closed for inclement weather or another emergency, such as a power outage, all activities, including athletics and fine arts, are canceled. Private placement, special education, Universal Pre-Kindergarten and BOCES students will not be transported.
Delays, early dismissal or school closure decisions are based on the superintendent’s discussion with the transportation director and the latest weather conditions.
The superintendent will notify families through e-mails and automated phone calls and text messages. So those messages are not missed, it’s important to immediately notify district registrar Richelle Ford at 585-243-3450, ext. 2266 of any updates to parents’ and guardians’ contact information.
The district will also send alerts to the following local news outlets: Livingston County News/The Daily News, Democrat & Chronicle, WHEC-10 (NBC), WROC-8 (CBS), WHAM-13 (ABC/FOX), SpectrumNews1 Rochester. We will also notify radio stations: WBEE, WXXI, WCJW, WDNY and WARM 101.3.
It is recommended to check more than one source for emergency information in the event there is a power outage at the district that could affect updating the website and electronic communication. Also note that notifications will not be posted on social media due to the unreliable timing of the information for subscribers.
