Geneseo Central School District middle and high school PageTurners students were crowned champions in the annual fall competition.
On Dec. 8, the middle school team competed against other Livingston county schools in Keshequa. The team captured an early lead and won by five points.
The high school team, made up of 9th through 12th graders, also competed against nearby schools in November and won by two points.
“We couldn’t be more proud of our team of avid readers and the time they dedicate to the club.” Teachers and PageTurners coaches Heather Greene and Grace Tulowiecki said.
PageTurners is an enrichment program of the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership. Schools in the region are challenged to read the same six books. The teams later compete against each other by answering trivia questions about the books in round-robin style during the fall and spring semesters.
Scores from the fall and spring are combined to determine division winners, with the top two teams advancing to regionals.
The students will be tasked with reading six new books ahead of the spring competition which will be held in February.
