Sensory Processing

Sensory processing refers to the way the nervous system receives messages from the senses and turns them into responses. For those with Sensory Processing Disorder, sensory information goes into the brain but does not get organized into appropriate responses.

Obstacle courses can be fun activities for kids while also allowing for structure and repeated practice to become independent and successful with tasks. They also allow for practice with motor planning (completing a movement task with a correct sequence beginning to end).
Transform your living room into a sensory friendly obstacle course. Use furniture and other household items to have the kids crawl over, under, and through. Have them animal walk and jump over items. Work on balance. Set-up a relay race
